My Favourite Things

I love the idea of a happy first posting so here goes.

Some of my favourite things (English spelling!)......

Chocolate anything from England...I have added chocolate as one of my food groups to maximise my intake while I am here. So far I have lost weight and inches, yeah! Okay it probably has more to do with the 4 mile walks I take every day than the chocolate but a girl can dream, right?

Walking in the English countryside (see pictures)

Laughing with my sister.

Taking my children on adventures...
And of course my friends and loved ones in America.
Cheers!

Things that make Laundry Girl happy

Okay, I'm taking Loraine's last post as a little bit of a challenge to dig deep inside and see if I can think of something other than Biker boy and my kids that make me happy.....Just like Loraine's, these are in total random order.

1. My new camera (Nikon D40)

I love it, I love it, I love it.

2. Drinking coffee outside on my swing in my jammies.

3. Pedicures, massages and facials.

4. Wine and chocolate....together if possible.

5. I really like to cook, especially when Biker boy takes the kids out of the kitchen. Oh and I love to drink wine while I cook.

6. I love walking on the beach, not so much swimming in the ocean. Unless it's Hawaii or the Caribbean where I can see to the bottom. But I love the smell of the beach.

7. I love to sniff stuff. Sounds weird, but i am a compulsive smeller. I smell everything. I love the smell of fresh laundry, rain, fresh cut grass, gasoline fumes (I know, I'm weird), the smell of a cigarette when it is first lit (hate the smell of smoke though), new books....especially school books or yearbooks, babies, fresh herbs, good shampoo, orange blossoms are my absolute favorite, the smell of an indoor pool, candles, flowers.....I'm sure there's more, but that's a start for smells....

8. I love my new desk in my kitchen

9. Painting, and just house projects in general

10. SHOPPING!!! I need retail therapy, it really truly does make me happy.

Mr. Poo

Z went poo on the potty today at Burger King of all places. YEAH!!!!! He calls it Mr. Poo now. The other day we were sitting there FOREVER waiting for 'Mr. Poo' to come out. We made up a whole song and everything, I will spare you the lyrics.....
But it was so cute because he was just so dang proud of letting 'Mr. Poo' come out. So, we went right to Target and got new CHOO-CHOO undies. Now, we'll see if we can have a second appearance tomorrow......

This is a good prayer

Nicest Prayer I Have Heard In A Long Time... Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night, is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children. Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester. Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares. Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together. Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

Handstands

I did handstands today with J. (not just in the pool either) I actually did it too but......Holy crap, I'm already getting sore in places I haven't used in awhile. Oh, I tried a headstand too.....I am seriously out of shape. He thought I was super cool though, I think. Biker boy was doing them too, and cartwheels....and he tried a front handspring. I was just waiting for something to snap. His ribs are still sore from when he FRACTURED one a couple months ago trying to do 'THE WORM'. Seriously, at what point does gravity really set in?? You don't realize it's happening, but all of a sudden, there it is. Handstands aren't fun anymore, they hurt. But I figure, at least I did it, right? And my kids think I rock.

Proud Mommy

I'd love to see more photo's so I'll start. Here's K RIGHT after Kindergarten Stepping UP! :)

"I'm going Potty!"

So most of you know the Wiggles. Most of you probably know the song "Wiggly Party". "Wiggly Party, Every body's comin', snap, snap, snap, clap, clap, clap, wiggle your hips, just like that!" Well tonight at dinner K excused herself to go to the restroom. J immediately started singing this song as he hears it. "I'm going Potty!, Every body's comin', I'm going potty, snap, snap, snap . . . . " LOL! Took me a minute to get it . . .

Can you say NASTY??

So we are trying to potty train Z. He's got the big boy undies and all. He's been doing very well but he is afraid to poop on the potty. I've been trying to catch him in the act and yesterday I made it.....not so lucky today......
I seriously almost threw up it was so nasty. I had a trail of poop all over my tile....all down his legs, and you better believe those undies are in the trash. NASTY NASTY NASTY. Why is it soooo hard to poop on the toilet?? I know some of you have had this same dilemma. HELP!! I am sick of diapers. NO MORE DIAPERS.

Breast Cancer

Here is a link for a news clip talking about a different kind of 'silent' breast cancer. Good to be aware!! This form doesn't show up on mammograms and there is no lump.

Do as I say, not as I do

Okay, so I like to shop. No secret there. I am, however, very frugal. I like to get the most bang for my buck. Biker boy is constantly on me about spending. Of course I try to justify with my incredible savings!! I am saving us a TON of money on groceries with the grocery game. So, that extra money should be extra right?? Biker boy has a different theory. Anywho, J was playing on webkinz this morning and he keeps buying all these little items for his pet, and lots of them!! He keeps wanting to buy all these big items for his pet that cost a lot of Webkinz bucks. I started on this whole speech about how he needs to stop spending money on all the little stuff and save his money so he can buy the big stuff......Biker boy was sitting right next to me and gives me 'the look' and we both busted out laughing since J is just like me!! Uh-oh. I swear I can't save money!! It burns a hole in my pocket. J is exactly the same. I hope he meets someone who can keep him in line like Biker boy keeps me in line. Otherwise he's in big trouble!! I try sooo hard but I just can't do it. I've been like that ever since I got my first dollar, I just gotta spend it!!
So, we'll see if J can save some money for his pet panda.

I have regained my title

My laundry is DONE!! Done I tell you. I never thought I would climb out of that deep dark hole!! It is quite a feeling of accomplishment isn't it?? My house is clean, my laundry is done, my kids are even a little clean and....I got to go to dinner tonight with my husband and we sat and talked uninterrupted for 3 hours!! I didn't know we could talk that long still. Better yet, my mom watched the kids so I didn't even have to pay a babysitter!!! AND I even got to sit outside in this glorious weather and read a book for an hour this afternoon during naptime. Heavenly. Today was a good day.

The incredible flying Ranch

After a lovely morning watching our baby graduate Kindergarten we went to Chili's to celebrate with K's friend S and her family. We had a nice lunch and their were a lot of other families doing the same thing so kids were wondering about a little and chit chatting. K and J got Mac N' Cheese and french fries (healthy, I know) and of course had to have a side of Ranch dressing to dip the fries in. We're just about finished up eating when we hear a "Crash" over in J's vicinity. As we all look up, we all see streams of something flying thru the air. It seemed like minutes but in about two seconds we all see what's happened. J dropped his Ranch onto the floor. It didn't spill ~ it SPRAYED the patrons sitting at not one but TWO tables next to us. It sprayed the wall up six feet, it got the booth next to the floor. If it hadn't doused two people in particular, we all would have been CRACKING up but alas, we had to wait until after we offered then our "wipies" to clean them up. Ranch is good for your hair right? Lady patron first looked like she was going to lay into someone but then realizing it was a one in a million accident, just smiled and started wiping off her hair and clothing saying "I have kids". 15 year old boy patron didn't even know he was covered until I opened my big mouth. His dad thought it was hilarious as his mom cleaned him up. We left the wall, furniture and floor to be dealt with later. I'm pretty sure our picture is going up in the lobby with the caption to read "WANTED!" Going thru my pictures this morning I saw this cute one of C holding A. Notice the white dots over C's head? ... RANCH!

Snowchic, you are not alone

GO SNOWCHIC!! You are not alone in the land of rules. I am right there with you though, I feel like I'm the big meanie all the time because I don't let my children do whatever the heck they want. I just can't believe I'm already at the phase of "well so and so does this, or has this, or can do whatever they want" crap. Aren't they too little for that already?? Some of the stuff they are watching and hearing in Kindergarten just floors me. I just feel like we can only protect their little minds for so long before the world takes over anyway. So darn it, I'm gonna be that mean mom who "doesn't let me do anything" for as long as I can. Coming from the kid with every toy under the sun. The neighbor kids come over every single day asking if Josh can play, they are in 2nd and 3rd grade with no supervision EVER. No, he cannot come out and play unless there is an adult actually outside with you. (which I've never seen)
Every single day I wonder if I'm being unreasonable but then I remember that God gave these children to me and it is my responsibility to protect them and if I don't raise them right and be strong enough to stand up and be willing to say no, I'm not doing them any favors. And, if I can't say no to a 5 year old, what the heck am I gonna do when he's 16 and taller than me?? But it's still soooo hard.
Parenting is definitely the hardest job in the entire world.

Mommy thoughts from the Rockies

Since I am a former E Mom now living in the snow I will go by Snowchic....I loved snow as a kid in IL and then hated it most of my adult life but have become fond of it again living here in the Rockies. I just can't get enough of those mountains. Anyway I have cleaned all day and feel like I am just treading water...not getting anywhere really. Baby A is a joy but I have to train myself to get back into the "baby groove" the interuptions make it hard to get stuff done. S graduated pre-school yesterday and A rolled over. C just wanted to know "why in the world would I need to be punished when I was only 30 min late coming in the house?" Seriously I was never late even when I was a naughty teen. I might have snuck back out but by darn I was not late!! I would have hated to see what would have happend to me if I was. Sometimes I feel like I am the only Mom who has rules let alone punishes my children. I wonder what things will look like in 20 years? Will it be mayhem with this generation of kids or will it all work out? HMMM....Later...Snowchic

here's to good friends

GIRLS IN MY CIRCLE
When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,And then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,God would show you the best in many friends.
One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man. Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom. Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities. Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be. One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'Another, 'Let's fight together,Another, 'Let's walk away together.'
One friend will meet your spiritual need,Another your shoe fetish,Another your love for movies, Another will be with you in your season of confusion,Another will be your clarifier, Another the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life,On whatever the occasion,On whatever the day, Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself .. Those are your best friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman, But for many, it's wrapped up in several... One from 7th grade,One from high school, Several from the college years, a couple from old jobs,On some days your mother, On some days your neighbor,On others, your sisters,And on some days, your daughters.

Love notes from a 6 year old

Okay so our good friends from Thiel talk are moving back to the East coast as most of you know. J and S have been buddies for quite some time now, actually since they first moved here. Anywho, I gave Josh an old stationary box with note cards and such, so he decided he wanted to write S a goodbye letter. So he finished and was about to tape the envelope shut and I asked if I could look at it and he said okay. I pulled it out and there was a folded piece of paper inside. I opened the paper and it was a love note from an old boyfriend from just before i met biker boy. It must have been hidden beneath some papers in my stationary box. I started laughing hysterically just thinking of how that would have looked if S would have received that letter!!! And J kept saying "what, what, what??? what's so funny?"

It was actually a poem and I thought I would share it with all of you so you can visualize a 6 year old girl getting this from a 6 year old boy:

When I stop to kiss you, it's like the world is standing still

Your kiss is so divine,I shall never get my fill

For in your eyes, of ocean size

my heart forever, bound with your ties.

I shall paint the skies, of ocean size

my love the palette, it never dies

so love me till the morning

true in your eyes, your eyes so blue.

My title should be revoked

I am really not living up to my name 'laundry girl'. I am such a loser. I think biker boy may be out of underwear....tee hee. I just keep finding other things to do besides clean the massive pile of clothes in my laundry room. I know I should do it, I keep thinking about it. Like right now, kids are sleeping, J is in school.....what am I doing?? Laundry? NO!! I'm blogging of course!! Well first I was downloading and editing pictures, my other obsession. I am in laundry rebellion right now. It's not like it's ever done anyway.
So, I have about a half hour until J gets home....what to do, what to do.....
I think I'll go read a book.

Racial stereotyping in young children

This is soooo sad. It really makes you think about how racist our country is.

Funny but not funny

J and I were saying prayers at bedtime tonight and we were praying for the people in China. I was trying to explain to J what an earthquake was and I said something about the earth opening up and breaking apart......he sat and thought for a moment and first he asked "is it coming here....to Arizona?" I said no it doesn't work quite like that. Then he thought again and said "why don't we just tape it shut? That should work because tape is pretty sticky you know."
Wouldn't it be great if tape worked that way??
It's so crazy what's going on in our world that I know there is no way I can even begin to explain reality, I know he can't comprehend it, I can't even comprehend it!!
We finally ended that we just really need to be thankful that we are safe and we need to pray that God will take care of all the people who aren't safe right now.

The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice. If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mother!

Computer Talk

Reading Card Girl's blog...she mentions what her children call the computer. I have a good story. When S was a little girl she was visiting her grandparents. At the dinner table with guests, she announced, "I came from my Mommy's puter". You can imagine the surprise! Eventually, with questions, they realized she was referring to her baby pictures on my computer slideshow... phew...thank goodness that was resolved.

Wonderful Life

I was sitting at the waterpark yesterday by the side of the pool watching J play with his long time buddy S. I got warm fuzzies for a few minutes and just couldn't help but smile. They have been best buds since before they were 2 years old and now they are racing each other across the pool. It really does go by so fast. I just started wondering....will they grow up together?? In a time where everyone moves at rocket speed and people move every 2 years, I wonder if some of the people we have made such good friendships with will still be here 10 or 15 years from now. I sure hope so!! I really want that for my children....to grow up with the same people. I guess I didn't really have that so I'm envious of those who do. I looked around and looked at all the familiar faces and smiled again. I love that I see people I know everywhere I go. It sometimes makes it feel like we are in a different time. I love the bubble. I know there is a whole world out there that needs to be explored and I definitely want different experiences for my children as well, but I love coming home. I just feel so fortunate to have a home instead of just a house.

Opening wine can be dangerous....

We were at C's house for dinner and she somehow got her shirt caught in the wine opener. It was pretty funny. She asked me to help her, but I had to get a picture first!!

Runny Babbit

the boys have this book where the words are mixed up...  so instead of Bunny Rabbit, it is Runny Babbit...and so on..  "they went to let gunch"...     We read the stories to the boys before they go to bed and we let them figure out the correct way to say things..  they actually do pretty good!

The other night, I was reading it to N as A was already  asleep... and there was a story about Dankee Yoodle ..(Yankee Doodle)...  when N was trying to correct the words, he said "Wankee" instead of Yankee.

I couldnt stop laughing.   It sounded so funny at the time.

Baby talk

So, I have been pondering child #3 since child #2 was about 1 year old. I think most of you know that by now. I have gone back and forth ever since. Biggest problem is biker boy says we're done. I beg to differ. I am not on the pill. I will not sign a waiver for you to get fixed. You are a man who knows he should wear......something.........but you are a man. Uh hum, nuff said. So, we play with fire month to month....well he plays with fire, I would be elated!! I have been really working on him for a good month now and he's not budging!!! Now I need to really examine whether it's what I really want or is it just a quest to get him to consider? I never want to regret not trying. It's no secret I really want to try for a girl, and that's one of his biggest arguments...."what if we have another boy?" Well of course I would love another boy as much as I love our boys now, I think I would cry for a month or so first though. I just can't let it go. He really has no good reason 'why not'. He says he likes our lifestyle the way it is and adding another would change EVERYTHING. Yes, I'm sure it would change, but I've never met anyone who regretted having more. I just look at little Z and he's sooo much fun and he just makes me smile so many times a day, but he's already getting big!! I just want little people around for a little while longer. I think. Then the other part of me starts pondering...hmmmmm....we are almost out of diapers.....vacation.......preschool.......coffee in silence......read a book......lay by the pool.....paint in peace.....go to the gym (I know, that one is quite a stretch). What to do, what to do. My thought is, if we do it I want to do it now, or at least soon. I guess, I kinda just want a maybe from the man. He's so freakin stubborn. Sorry to vent, I'm just frustrated that I can't break him. Sooooo, what do ya'll think.....give up or keep on truckin'??
Anywho,
school is out in a little over a week and I'm a little scared. YIKES. It's going to be WWE up in here. I need to plan activities every single day!! Z is definitely fighting back these days, he has marked his territory!!
Okay so one last thing, I need to laugh. I need funny kid stories pronto. Share share share!!!

Good Night!!

TEST TIME

I have to tell you all a story about my evening that I'm sure you can all relate to. (I hope at least) First of all, it's 7:30, or better known as wine-thirty....finally. Z and I went to the zoo today and met biker boy for lunch and it was a spectacular day. J went to a friends house after school so we had the whole day to play. It was great until J came home. Everything seemed to go downhill from there. It was already 5 o'clock so I was trying to get something quick done for dinner. Biker boy decided to leave as soon as he got home at 3 to work on his bike trails so he won't be home till who knows when so chicken nuggets it is!! Mommy will drink her dinner tonight, only after kids are in bed of course!! Anyway, so J decides tonight is the night to torment Z. He wants to eat his dinner outside, which is fine but then starts swinging the swing into Z's chair and then they are screaming at each other. So, I tell J if he does it again he is going inside......of course he is inside in about 3.2 seconds. I am on the phone at the time of course, so one of my fellow mommies gets to hear the WHOLE thing. So, he goes inside and continues to get out of his chair and do EVERYTHING he can to drive me absolutely insane. I finally give a whole bunch of empty threats and I'm sure inside he is smiling his biggest smile because he knows I'm on the phone. In the meantime, Z is going from dinnerplate to sandbox so he comes inside to get buckled in his 'babyseat'. J now has a new person's skin to get under. So, he starts his whole "you're going to bed, ha ha ha" and Z starts screaming back. AHHHHHH!!! Still on the phone at this point...... I tell J if he doesn't getting out of his seat and eat his food I'm going to put a belt around him to keep him in his seat. At this point mister testy decides to run and hide. So, my phone friend suggests I pretend like there is something super cool going on, so I say "Josh you gotta come and see this, it's sooooo cool!!!" It worked and he comes running out...."what??" As soon as he figured out I was kidding he ran back into hiding.....under my bed. Ah ha!! Caught!! So I pull out his skinny little legs as he is laughing hysterically and I'm still trying to be mad but I have to get a little tickle torture in first!! I love the giggles. After the giggles I turn back into mean mommy...."get back at the table NOW!!!!" Still on the phone by the way.....And I did make Josh a homemade 'baby seat' with one of my belts. I'm the meanest mom in the whole world.
And J is still torturing EVERYBODY!! I don't know what has gotten into him today. I then remember he's been at a friend's house and probably had a millions snacks so lets just do bath and bed so mommy's head doesn't spin around and fall off. I really do love my children dearly, I swear.

I tried to change names to reflect my true calling. I hope I succeeded...

Just to make Laundry Girl Happy

I have two reasons for this post; 1) to tell you that our sandbox is DONE! Next time you come over your kids can get really messy and 2) to get Laundry Girl off my back. LOL

And, who is Matt going to pick on the Bachelor?? I know, it's retarded to watch these shows but I just can't help it.
And....did everyone have a good mother's day??
